Race report from WCC regular and newly crowned World Champion in the event of Sprint Triathlon...... Jacqui Philips!!! Jam is constantly tweaking her bikes to guarantee top performance at every race!!!!!
Well done Jac from all at WCC!!

'Driving home from Rotterdam I have finally had time to reflect on yesterday's race. Here are my thoughts,

There has been 3 men in my life this Summer....Max, Nick and Mark.
Max has been with me at most of my training sessions. Often causing me pain, reducing me to tears, making me fall off the turbo and into bed exhausted. He did his job but I've done with Max now and I won't miss him.
Nick Dunn is quite simply the best coach. He makes me do stuff I don't want to do, he listens, he makes me laugh. He got me in the best shape I have ever been in and gave me the confidence to set myself some really tough goals. He's also become a good friend and I owe him a lot.
Mark is just Mark. He knows what I need and is always there for me, my biggest supporter. I couldn't do this without him.

I have just finished the hardest race season of my life, ending with the hardest and best race I have ever done. And I couldn't have done it without these 3.
I came to Rotterdam determined to end the season feeling better than I had done after winning a silver medal in Penticton. I hadn't set myself the target of winning, just to have the best race I could possibly have and if that resulted in a win then that would be a fabulous bonus.

I studied my opposition and thought there were 4 real rivals. Juliet Hochman, the American who beat me 4 weeks ago, Maria Powell my GB team mate, friend and awesome swim/biker and a German who had some previous good results. I knew what their strengths and weaknesses were and I had a plan. I just needed to have a solid swim, get with Maria on the bike and then nail the run. The plan worked...but it was bloody hard.

I came out of the water 30 secs down on Maria and the German but ahead of USA. I quickly rode past Germany but Maria did not make it easy for me and I had to dig very deep to catch her (Pure Max effort again!!). We then worked hard together not wanting to let USA gain any ground. Storming round the bike route I was starting to cramp up, but Maria was so strong. Hanging on to her at times I just focused on getting to T2 with as big a lead as possible.
Running a fast 5k with trashed legs is really not pleasant but I had the finish line in my sights and again dug very deep to make up a minute on Maria. She also hung on to silver but it was a sprint finish with USA who had a storming run. So pleased that Maria hung on as she totally deserved the silver.

Coming into the finish line I knew I had a big enough lead to relax and totally enjoyed that blue carpet moment.
I took all the messages of good luck with me to that race, all the shouts on the course and all the well done's from everyone afterwards. They truly make a difference and I am so grateful to everyone who helped me win.
So I am World Champion again and feel very proud to have won it against such strong opposition. I'm literally still smiling.

But this is it now. I've done all I can in the GB Sprint triathlon world. I have other things planned.....some triathlon related, some not. It's been a fabulous year.'
